Canadian brewery Labatt is now facing a class-action lawsuit from its retirees – including some from among the ranks of executive – contending that the beer slinger has been denying proper health benefits.

The claim was filed in Ontario Superior Court and states that “This unilateral change constituted a breach of each class member’s employment contract and violates his or her vested retirement rights and health-protection benefits and those of their eligible dependents.”

The plaintiffs are suing for some Can. $80 million (approximately $74.77 million), representing
Can. $50,000 per 1,600 alleged victims.
