as a life time New Mexico resident my opinion may be swayed some what.I believe that our life long traditions will all be ripped from our homes if the general public does not take a step back and think before the make decisions. The animal rights “gangs” move from state to state without any knowledge of the diffrent sports or traditions they are killing. the mission statement of these groups is at least ignorant. Humans and animals living side by side as equals? who will then feed our equals,our country already fails at feeding our homeless. who will make sure these animals are safe from our freeway and other roads,i will bet you wont see Lisa Jennings rounding up a heard of cows or flock of sheep, she will be in back in her apartment in NY City. The issue of cock fighting has been put to bed,dont sleep easy or you will wake up in the barn!

in reference to saving private ryan, summary judgments have occurred in every war and will still happen. Regardless of the Geneva Convention, many soldiers in most wars will not capture enemies, and be forced to care for them. Especially if the captors are in such a small group, whose mission is a long way from being completed, and have no support. They may have not been allowed to do that but it happened a lot, and showing that it did in that movie was true to that war. I also think that showing that shed a little light on what war really does to people…

regardless I just might have read that little snippet wrong

I am going through hell with Drive Finacial.. I fell behind on payments and all I owe on the vehicle is the interest at this point.. they harrass me, plus calling friends at work.. They demanded I pay off the whole ammount on the vehicle rather then catch up on payments, yet would NOT give me the payoff info when I asked for it. I was forced to change my phone number because they called me over 20 times in one day, DEMANDING I pay them NOW. refusing partial payments, yet they cashed the partial payment checks I sent them anyways..

They now claim they are taking my work truck even if I do catch up on the payments…saying I now have to pay off the whole amount if I want to keep the truck, but they would NOT tell me how much the amount was.

I TOO HAVE BEEN HARRASSED AND HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE REPOSSED. THEY HAVE NUMEROUSE CALLS TO MY BROTHER AND HAVE THREATENED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE, WHICH I DON’T EVEN SPEAK TO MY BROTHER DUE TO FAMILY PROBLEMS. ALSO THEY WOULD LEAVE HARSH MESSAGES TO MY MINOR SON LETTING HIM KNOW THEY WOULD PICK UP THE CAR. ALSO SPOKE TO MY 5 YEAR OLD NIECE AT ONE TIME WHEN OUR MOM WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FIGHTING FOR CANCER, I FELL BEHIND ON PAYMENTS AND LOST OUR HOME, WE HAD TO MOVE OUT AND I WAS SCARED TO CONTACT THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE SO RUDE AND WOULD YELL AT ME OVER THE PHONE, DEGRADING MY PERSON, CALLING ME 5 TIMES A DAY ETC.

Dear W. Kelly Martin,

Thanks for writing! In researching this piece and others, i’ve come across StopTheACLU.com, a very good website.

I’m no fan of the ACLU and, regardless of whether you agree with the organization or not, surely as good Americans we should defend its right to argue constitutional cases in court, no?

However, W. (can i call you W.?), your cheap shot was completely unwarranted. Yes, i know what the Third Reich and the Khmer Rouge are. Nice try, but referring to “Joe Sixpack” does yourself a bit of a disservice, surely. I’m glad to see that StopTheACLU members look as loftily down on the common man as their opposition.

As for the “equal opportunity” comment, note that the article reads “‘equal opportunity’ defender.” You may recall that, back in the 1980s, the ACLU went high-profile in defending a man that would have made Goebbels proud: Lt. Col. Oliver North. (Do you know who he was?)
